U.S. Embassy: Students coming to us are not required to pay a visa deposit

Starting from January, Kyrgyz citizens must have $5,000 to $15,000 to "not run away"

According to information provided by the U.S. Embassy in Kyrgyzstan, students heading to the United States are exempt from the requirement to pay a visa deposit.

As clarified by the diplomatic mission, this requirement does not apply to holders of F or M visas. A deposit is only required for those applying for a business visa or a tourist visa B1/B2.

It is worth noting that the new rule introduced by the U.S. State Department will come into effect on January 21, 2026, and applies to citizens of 38 countries, including Kyrgyzstan. The specific amount of the visa deposit will be determined by the embassy staff during the interview stage.
