In Kyrgyzstan, 141 tons of gold were extracted in five years

At a meeting of the Committee on Agricultural Policy and Environmental Protection of the Jogorku Kenesh, Asel Raimkulova, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision, reported that over the past five years, 141 tons of gold have been extracted in Kyrgyzstan.

According to her, until 2020, the annual extraction volume was 15 tons.

“From 2021 to 2025, this figure increased to 26 tons per year. As a result, a total of 141 tons of gold was extracted during this period,” she added.

Furthermore, Asel Raimkulova noted that in 2025, control over the Kumtor deposit was fully transferred to the state.

“The net profit from gold extraction for 2025 amounted to $706 million. Also, in 2024, during underground explorations, 147 tons of gold were discovered in the central pit, and in 2025, reserves of 121.4 tons of gold and 225 tons of silver were identified in the tailings storage. These resources will ensure the long-term successful development of the mine and a stable income for the local population,” concluded the deputy minister.
