From 2021 to 2025, Kyrgyzstan is demonstrating stable growth in the mining sector, which is linked to increased investments, intensified geological exploration, and the implementation of new projects. This information was announced by representatives of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision.
Particular achievements were noted in 2024 and 2025. In particular, as a result of extensive geological exploration work at Kumtor, an increase in gold reserves of 147.4 tons was registered in 2024, which was included in the state balance. This opens up prospects for the operation of the mine for decades, ensuring its stable functioning in accordance with environmental and social standards.
In 2025, gold and silver reserves from the Kumtor tailings storage facility were also added: 121 tons of gold and 225 tons of silver. This project is planned for a duration of 17 years, and by the first half of 2025, design work was completed, after which the operation of several key facilities began.
At the Buchuk site of the Solton-Sary deposit in the Naryn region, the gold processing plant is already operating in pilot mode and has started gold production.
Additionally, the Ministry of Natural Resources noted an increased interest in the coal industry. Since the beginning of 2025, 34 licenses for coal mining have been issued, and more than 20 new sites have already been put into operation. Among them, the gold-bearing Shakhtal deposit in the Naryn region and the coal deposits of Kozho-Kelen and Besh-Burkhan in the Osh region stand out.
The agency emphasized that the measures being taken are aimed at both meeting the needs of the domestic market and increasing the country's export capabilities.
