- In Batken, there are deposits of nepheline syenites Katranbashi and Karangli, which serve as raw materials for aluminum production. As noted by Tazabek, the Minister of Natural Resources, Meder Mashiev, these reserves amount to about 200 million tons.

The head of the ministry emphasized that under current conditions, considering global aluminum prices, the development of these deposits does not appear to be economically viable.

“Current aluminum prices make these deposits unattractive for large producers. Nevertheless, we continue to hold negotiations and meetings. During a recent trip to Dushanbe, I spoke with representatives of the largest aluminum plant that has been operating since Soviet times. They are currently sourcing raw materials from other countries and have shown interest in jointly developing our deposits,” he explained.

Mashiev also added that the study of these sites is ongoing, and in the future, the reserves may significantly increase.
