In the territory of the Jalal-Abad region, hunting teams and representatives of hunting societies managed to eliminate 82 wolves and 1051 jackals.

Sherikbay Shaimkulov, head of the department for specially protected natural areas of the Jalal-Abad regional office of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision, reported that specialized commissions were formed at the beginning of 2023 in accordance with the government decree of February 26, 2016, No. 89, which allowed for the establishment of their operational procedures.

To effectively control the population of wild predators such as wolves and jackals, the management began accepting applications from hunting brigades consisting of hunters from various districts, cities, and regions, as well as from limited liability companies. As a result, 122 brigades, which had all the necessary documents and paid the fees, were issued permits.

Work was carried out with the hunters to explain safety rules during hunting, as well as the necessity to strictly comply with legislation.

Wildlife specialists and rangers from the management took the necessary actions within their official duties to reduce the number of wolves and jackals.

In 2025, the commissions operating in the Toktogul, Chatkal, Nooken, and Bazar-Korgon districts, as well as in the cities of Kara-Kul and Kök-Jangak, recorded 22 wolves and 938 jackals. All related documents, including photo and video materials, were sent to the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision for subsequent rewards for the hunters.

Additionally, the hunting societies "Okhota-Keydji," "On-Acha," "Zhoon-Terek," "Beke-Chal," and "Altyn-Zhayyk" planned to cull 97 wolves and 205 jackals for 2025. To date, they have managed to capture 60 wolves and 113 jackals. Thus, the total number of eliminated predators amounted to 82 wolves and 1051 jackals, as reported by Shaimkulov.

As of today, hunters receive a reward of 6,000 soms for each wolf and 2,000 soms for each jackal.

It is worth noting that in 2021, the ministry proposed increasing the reward for a wolf to 10,000 soms and for a jackal to 5,000 soms. However, currently, the amounts of the payments remain the same.
