In the Batken region, in the Zardaly mountains, there is an increase in the population of bears, snow leopards, and ibex. Local residents report that the number of wild animals has noticeably increased. According to them, wild animals have become a common sight, coming down to water bodies and then returning back to the mountains. "We no longer pay them much attention and don’t even film them," shares a local resident's opinion. Bears have started to approach villages closely, but fortunately, they have not yet harmed people.

Additionally, the number of wolves has increased, which raises concerns among local hunters, as predators may attack livestock, causing damage. The population of wild boars has also risen, which poses a threat to domestic animals. However, in the village of Zardaly, where only Muslims reside, hunting boars is not practiced, as this animal is considered forbidden. These boars damage fields both in summer and winter, destroying crops.

It is also worth noting that the population of the snow leopard, listed in the Red Book, has increased thanks to the establishment of a special headquarters for its protection. Members of this headquarters closely monitor outsiders in the leopards' habitat. These predators do not pose a threat to either people or livestock. "We have noticed that leopards have started to appear more frequently, especially during livestock grazing, and herders talk about three gorges where they likely reside," says Akylbek Dilshatov, chairman of the Kara-Bak ayil council. "Previously, we rarely encountered leopards, but now we see them almost every time we go up into the mountains, including females with cubs and their dens. They do not harm those who do not disturb them, just like bears — it seems that a peace has been established between them and humans."

The village of Zardaly belongs to the Kara-Bak ayil district of the Batken region.

According to the Batken regional office of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision, the accounting of wild animals in the Batken region has been completed. It was conducted not only in the territories of reserves but also outside of them, in the habitats of rare species.
As a result of the accounting, the following number of animals in the region was recorded:
- marten (suusar) — 712 individuals,
- snow leopard (ilbirs) — 45 individuals,
- lynx — 288 individuals,
- golden eagle — 383 individuals,
- porcupine — 357 individuals,
- eublefar (lizard, echkemer) — 116 individuals,
- argali — 144 individuals,
- brown bear — 7 individuals.
