Kyrgyzstan and Korea Discussed Cooperation in Water Resource Management

Erlis Akunbekov, who is the Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, held a meeting with Kim Kwang-dje, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Kyrgyzstan. This was reported by the government press service.

During the meeting, current aspects and future directions of bilateral cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Korea were discussed. Great attention was paid to issues of agriculture and water resource management.



The parties also discussed the preparation of bilateral documents that will be considered during the upcoming high-level international event this year. During the negotiations, it was noted that cooperation between the Ministry of Water Resources and the Korean side is actively developing in four key areas: livestock, seed production, food security, and water resource management. The prospects for the implementation of new joint projects were discussed.

Lim So Yong, head of the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) in Kyrgyzstan, and Kwang Sog Chu, director of the Korea International Agricultural Program Center (KOPIA) in the country, also participated in the discussion. They expressed appreciation for the successful implementation of numerous projects and cooperation on current initiatives, as well as confirmed their intention to continue close interaction.

In conclusion of the meeting, Erlis Akunbekov and Ambassador Kim Kwang-dje agreed on further constructive cooperation and deepening mutually beneficial partnership.
