At the Joint Headquarters of the CSTO, a discussion was held on the preparation for the upcoming exercises "Barrier-2026".
During the meeting, which took place in Moscow under the leadership of Lieutenant General Anatoly Yakovlev, participants representing the defense ministries of Belarus (via videoconference), Russia, and the CSTO Joint Headquarters discussed key issues related to the upcoming exercises scheduled for October in Belarus.
Also discussed were initiatives from Russia aimed at developing military medicine and protection against biological threats, as well as planning research work related to the formation of chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) protection and medical support for the CSTO during the exercises.
It should be noted that this formation emerged in 2022, based on the experience of the Ministry of Defense of Russia in combating the COVID-19 pandemic, and its main goal is to ensure the medical and biological safety of military personnel and to respond promptly to mass infectious diseases. It includes specialists from all CSTO member states.
If necessary, this formation can be deployed on the territory of one of the member states of the Organization to protect the Collective Forces of the CSTO and to participate in responding to the rapid spread of dangerous infections.
