Police officers in Moscow have been detained for assisting illegal migrants, as reported by the press service of the courts of general jurisdiction in the capital.

The Cheryomushki District Court of Moscow has decided to arrest three out of five police officers accused of accepting bribes for organizing illegal migration.

The investigation claims that from January 2023 to October 2025, a group of seven people, including five police officers, operated in the Southwestern Administrative District of Moscow, organizing illegal migration for more than 2,000 foreigners for money. They were issued fake student visas.

From February to July of last year, the accomplices removed at least 1,500 migrants from the registry, who then received fake documents with false information about the host parties. These foreigners were entered into the database, which legalized their stay. The head of the migration department received a separate bribe for expediting the process of obtaining a Russian passport.

“It was also established that no later than December 2025, an immigration inspector and a police precinct officer facilitated the smooth passage of inspections for one of the educational institutions confirming the fact of education for foreign citizens, for a monetary reward,” the statement from the Investigative Committee of Russia said.
