On January 25, 2026, a tragedy occurred at the 141st kilometer of the Bishkek–Osh highway: a large truck carrying fuel and lubricants overturned and caught fire. This information was provided by the press service of the Main Department of Internal Affairs of the Chui region. As a result of the accident, the driver and his passenger died at the scene. A report of the fire was received by the duty unit of the Internal Affairs Department of the Jayil district around 11:35 from the 112 service, after which an investigative operational group was dispatched to the scene.
It was established that the MAN truck belonged to O.K., born in 1981, who was engaged in private transportation of petroleum products. On January 23, he accepted an order for the delivery of AI-92 gasoline from one of the limited liability companies operating in the oil refining sector and hired driver K.A., born in 1989. On the day of the tragedy, January 25, around 11:20, the driver was heading towards Osh, transporting 28 tons of petroleum products, with the owner also in the vehicle.
During the drive, the truck's front left tire burst, leading to the vehicle veering into the oncoming lane and overturning. As a result, a fire broke out, and the vehicle was completely burned. The bodies of the deceased were sent to the morgue, examinations were appointed, and the investigation is ongoing.
It was also established that no harm was done to the environment, as there was no leakage of petroleum products — all fuel and lubricants burned during the fire.
The Main Department of Internal Affairs of the Chui region strongly recommends that drivers thoroughly check the technical condition of their vehicles before long trips.
