Skeleton athlete Vladislav Geraskevich received $200,000 for the 'memory helmet'

After Vladislav Geraskevich was suspended from participating in the 2026 Winter Olympics, he received over $200,000 in financial support. This funding was provided by businessman Rinat Akhmetov through his charitable foundation and will be used for the athlete's further sports career as well as for his public activities.

Geraskevich's suspension occurred due to the use of a "memory helmet," which featured the faces of deceased Ukrainian athletes and coaches. This action was deemed by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as a violation of Rule 50 of the Olympic Charter, which prohibits any political and symbolic actions during competitions.

The amount of support received is comparable to prize payouts for Olympic champions, which will allow Vladislav Geraskevich to continue preparing for international competitions and actively engage in public activities, despite the IOC's decision.
