The European Parliament approved a loan to Ukraine for €90 billion

The approval of the loan was the final stage in the process of its endorsement in the European Parliament.

In December 2025, the leaders of the European Union countries agreed to provide Ukraine with an interest-free loan. This loan will be financed through borrowing on capital markets and will be secured by the EU budget, without involving Russian assets, as was previously proposed. The repayment of the loan will occur on the condition that Russia pays reparations to Ukraine. The allocated funds will be divided into two parts: €60 billion will be directed towards military purchases, while €30 billion will support the country's budget. The first tranche is expected to arrive in Kyiv at the beginning of the second quarter of 2026.
