Eric Dane, an American actor, became widely known for his outstanding roles in the cult series "Grey's Anatomy" and "Euphoria." He passed away on February 19, 2026, after a long battle with a serious illness.
According to reports from global news agencies, the cause of death was amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) — a rare neurological disease, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, which he had been facing for over a year after being diagnosed in 2025.
In the final days of his life, Eric was surrounded by family and loved ones, including his wife and two daughters. The actor's family requested privacy during this difficult time.
Dane became famous for his memorable roles in television series:
- In "Grey's Anatomy," he played the character Dr. Mark "McSteamy" Sloan, who became a fan favorite and made the actor a household name;
- In "Euphoria," the actor portrayed the complex character Cal Jacobs, marking his later and more dramatic work in the HBO series.
In April 2025, he publicly shared information about his ALS diagnosis while continuing his active career. Despite the progressive disease leading to loss of motor functions, he remained an active participant in campaigns aimed at raising awareness about the disease and supporting patients facing similar challenges.
