According to MiddleAsianNews, the Longmont Climbing Club (LCC) is once again hosting the Ice Climbing and Freestyle World Cup in the USA.

These competitions are held under the patronage of the UIAA, which organizes various events around the world throughout the year.

About 100 athletes from countries including Azerbaijan, Canada, Czech Republic, France, United Kingdom, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Japan, Liechtenstein, Mongolia, Netherlands, Poland, South Korea, Spain, Slovakia, Switzerland, and the USA are participating in the World Cup. Among those present at the competition was UIAA President Peter Muir.

More than 100 athletes representing over 25 associations competed for prizes in the disciplines of "difficulty climbing" and "speed".

At the UIAA Ice Climbing World Cup, which took place on February 21-22, 2026, in Longmont, athletes from Mongolia won silver and bronze medals.



In the finals of the competition, athletes were given three attempts to climb the 12-meter wall, where the winner was the one who showed the best time. Three men managed to climb in less than seven seconds. Linus Beck from Liechtenstein recorded an impressive time of 6.24 seconds, becoming the winner. Among the Mongolian athletes, Mandakhbayar Chuluunbaatar took third place with a result of 6.28, while Khurlen Nyamdorj, who participated only in the first round, finished with a time of 6.31.



The Mongolian team in the third round of the 2025-2026 season consisted of Mandakhbayar Chuluunbaatar, Khurlen Nyamdorj, Saikhanjargal Otgonbayar, and Selenge Nyamdorj.

In the men's speed climbing competition, Mandakhbayar won a silver medal, Khurlen received bronze, and Saikhanjargal finished in 13th place. In the women's tournament, Selenge finished in 4th position.

In the first three competitions of the 2025-2026 season, Mongolian athletes won one gold, two silver, and one bronze medal. The next stage will be the World Cup final in Canada.
