
The President emphasized that the US Development Finance Corporation should start providing political risk insurance and financial security guarantees for all maritime transport through the Persian Gulf "at reasonable prices."
"This initiative will be available to all shipping companies. If necessary, the US Navy will escort tankers in the Strait of Hormuz," Trump added.
The Strait of Hormuz is a key route for oil supplies from the Middle East, through which 20% of the world's crude oil volume passes.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, which is Iran's main security agency, has warned of possible attacks on vessels attempting to cross the strait after Israel and the US began striking Iran. As a result of these events, oil and gas prices have sharply increased, and several tankers have fallen victim to attacks.
