
On Sunday, a serious incident occurred in the Spanish province of Córdoba: two high-speed trains derailed, as reported by the railway infrastructure operator Adif.
According to RTVE, 21 people died as a result of the accident, and around a hundred sustained various injuries.
The incident happened around 19:40 local time (21:40 Moscow time), when a train carrying 317 passengers traveling from Málaga to Madrid derailed and struck an adjacent track. On that track was another train heading from Madrid to Huelva, which also derailed.
"According to the latest data, at least 21 people have fallen victim to the tragedy, and about 100 have been injured, of which 25 are in serious condition," the source reports.
Emergency services continue to work at the scene, and information about the injured is being updated regularly. Due to the incident, high-speed train services between Madrid and Andalusia have been temporarily suspended.
