
The damage incurred by insured property last year amounted to $127 billion. The majority of this damage occurred in the United States, where losses from disasters were estimated at about $100 billion, of which $41 billion was caused by the largest fires in California's history.
Aon’s analysis shows that hurricanes, typhoons, and storms caused $61 billion in damage in 2025. The most destructive was Hurricane Melissa, which inflicted $11 billion in losses, of which $9 billion was recorded in Jamaica, where the damage accounted for 40% of the country's annual GDP. Additionally, Aon notes that 2025 was the third hottest year on record, and extreme temperatures led to the deaths or premature deaths of at least 25,000 people worldwide.
