Snowfall is expected to cover many areas of the country, including the capital, starting tomorrow. The greatest threat of avalanches is anticipated on January 28 and during the night of January 29.
The Hydrometeorological Center has identified specific areas where there is a risk of avalanches:
- on the highway Dushanbe – Chanak (km 48–74);
- in the areas of Maykhura and Zideh of the Varzob district;
- in mountainous areas under the jurisdiction of the republic;
- in the sections of Manem, Vuzh, Tangiv, and Bidur of the Shugnan district in GBAO.
In light of these forecasts, citizens are advised to avoid traveling to mountainous and avalanche-prone areas unless absolutely necessary.
Responsible agencies in the field of road traffic and transport must take additional measures to ensure safety.
Previously, meteorologists predicted that in January 2026, temperatures in most regions of the country would be 1–2 degrees above the climatic norm, while precipitation levels are expected to be within the norm or locally below. In mountainous areas, sharp temperature changes are possible.
