The storm Fern has affected numerous states—from the southern territories to the Midwest and the northeastern coast. It is accompanied by heavy snowfall, freezing rain, and a sharp drop in temperatures, which has already caused serious disruptions in the transportation system and infrastructure.

According to media reports, a state of emergency has been declared in 16–18 states. The highest risks are observed in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, as well as in northeastern states including New York, New Jersey, and Massachusetts. Meteorologists forecast that some areas may receive between 60 to 75 centimeters of snow, and dangerous ice layers may form on roads and power lines.

The country's transportation system has suffered the most. In recent days, tens of thousands of flights have been canceled or delayed in the USA, especially in major transport hubs such as New York, Boston, Atlanta, Chicago, and Dallas.

Additionally, railway companies have reduced or temporarily suspended train services on several routes. Authorities strongly recommend that citizens avoid travel unless absolutely necessary.

Adverse weather conditions have already led to power outages in several regions, leaving thousands of homes without electricity. Schools, government institutions, and public spaces have closed in several cities. Municipal services are operating in enhanced mode, clearing roads and creating heating points for the most vulnerable populations.

Experts believe that the storm represents an unusual combination of arctic cold air, heavy precipitation, and sharp temperature fluctuations. These conditions create an increased risk of traffic accidents, frostbite, and failures in utility systems.

Forecasters warn that nighttime temperatures in some areas may drop significantly below zero.

According to the National Weather Service, the storm's impact is expected to weaken in the coming days; however, difficult weather conditions may persist longer than usual in the northeastern states. Authorities continue to urge residents to monitor official warnings, adhere to safety measures, and prepare for possible further disruptions in transportation and utility services.
