The situation in Kamchatka, particularly in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, has become critical due to a strong cyclone that has led to a sharp deterioration in weather conditions. A state of emergency has been declared in the city. Gigantic snowdrifts, formed from a record amount of precipitation, have blocked streets, yards, and entrances to homes, effectively paralyzing public transport.

According to local news reports, in some areas, the snow cover reaches 2-3 stories high, and in certain places, the snowdrifts rise to the level of four-story buildings.
Local residents are facing serious difficulties: many cannot open their doors and are forced to exit through windows or dig tunnels in the snow. Utility services and rescuers are working non-stop, but the volume of fallen snow exceeds the capabilities of the equipment.
As a result of snow falling from roofs, tragic incidents have occurred: at least two people have died. Authorities and the Ministry of Emergency Situations warn of a high avalanche threat and the risk of further collapses, urging people to avoid being under eaves and not to clear roofs on their own.

Heavy snowfall has also disrupted logistics: some stores are experiencing supply shortages, many businesses and institutions have switched to remote work, and classes in schools have been temporarily suspended.

Forecasters report that this winter is one of the harshest in recent years. Adverse weather conditions persist, and the aftermath of the cyclone may take a long time to resolve.
