In hospitals of Kyrgyzstan, 1.16 million hospitalization cases were registered in a year

In 2025, hospitals in Kyrgyzstan that operate under contracts with the Mandatory Health Insurance Fund (MHIF) registered 1,165,676 cases of inpatient treatment. This information was announced by representatives of the MHIF.

Of the total number of hospitalizations, 36% are children under 18 years old, which corresponds to approximately 419 thousand cases.

The fund clarified that each case of inpatient treatment is considered a separate cycle. Thus, the figure of 1,165,676 does not reflect the number of patients but indicates the total number of completed treatment cycles.

The rules for providing medical assistance are as follows:

For children under 6 years old:

According to the State Guarantees Program, this group is completely exempt from co-payment. All expenses for treatment, diagnostics, and essential medications are covered free of charge.

For children aged 6 to 18 years:

These patients are required to make a co-payment, the amount of which varies depending on the profile of the medical institution (therapeutic or surgical).

The algorithm for planned hospitalization includes the following steps:

Receiving a referral from the family doctor or pediatrician to whom the child is attached. Providing a birth certificate. If there is no referral, then planned treatment is paid at the maximum co-payment rate at the cash desk of the medical institution.

In case of emergency hospitalization through the ambulance service, a referral is not required, and assistance is provided immediately.
