As part of the Eurasian Economic Union, the creation of supranational regulations concerning the regulation of electronic commerce is planned. This was announced by Kaniyet Nasirdinov, head of the integration development sector of the EAEU coordination department of the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic, on the radio.

He noted that last year, sellers on marketplaces faced difficulties, including issues related to the recipients of goods and VAT payment. To address these problems, extensive work is scheduled for 2026 to prepare supranational documents that will define the rules for the operation of electronic trading platforms within the union.

The ministry representative also pointed out the need to introduce norms that will require large marketplaces to become tax residents and independently pay VAT when selling goods. The signing of the relevant acts is expected at the end of 2026 or the beginning of 2027.

It is planned that VAT will be paid at the moment when the buyer actually receives the goods. Nasirdinov emphasized that this will help eliminate existing issues with taxation in cross-border electronic commerce and streamline financial transactions within the union.
