Kyrgyzstan has increased the quota for duty-free import of electric vehicles

In 2026, Kyrgyzstan will continue to provide benefits for the import of electric vehicles, significantly increasing the quota for duty-free imports. This was announced by Elimbek Kanibek uulu, head of the EAEU Coordination Department of the Ministry of Economy of the Kyrgyz Republic, at a press conference at the Kabar agency.
As Kanibek uulu noted, this year the quota for duty-free imports was increased from 10,000 to 15,000 vehicles. Initially, the initiative faced certain objections from partner countries within the EAEU; however, in December 2025, it was approved at a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council.
“This benefit applies to both fully electric vehicles and cars with a series hybrid drive, including popular models from Lixiang/Li Auto,” he added.
