- At the meeting of the EAEU held on January 30, Kyrgyzstan approved quotas for duty-free imports of electric vehicles, which will amount to up to 15,000 units. This was reported on February 3 at a press conference by Kanybek uulu Elimbek, head of the EAEU coordination department of the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan, in response to journalists' questions.

Kanybek uulu Elimbek noted that in December 2025, Kyrgyzstan raised the issue of difficulties related to the supply of electric vehicles and hybrids at a preferential rate. Previously, a limited exemption was in place, but this year the republic requested an increase to 15,000 units. This decision was agreed upon with other countries of the Union, and the exemption will apply to both fully electric and hybrid vehicles.

“We initiated this process. With the increasing demand for electric vehicles in the market, it became clear that a solution was necessary. Now 15,000 vehicles can be imported at a preferential rate this year,” added Kanybek uulu Elimbek.

In addition, the press conference discussed the implementation of a system of navigation seals. The head of the department reported that starting from February 11, 2026, such seals will be used for certain categories of goods, including alcohol, tobacco products, as well as light industry products—clothing and footwear.

The seal system will ensure complete traceability of goods, and their installation will be carried out by the state operator of the customs infrastructure. In the future, the list of goods subject to control will be expanded, and agreements have already been reached with Russia and Kazakhstan regarding forest products and other categories.
