In recent years, Kyrgyzstan has significantly reduced its dependence on food imports. Agricultural production of key products shows stable growth, which contributes to an increase in the level of self-sufficiency.
According to information from the Ministry of Agriculture, by 2025 the republic will be self-sufficient in six out of nine main food products. Complete or excess self-sufficiency has been achieved in the following categories:
- vegetables and melons;
- potatoes;
- milk;
- meat;
- sugar;
- eggs.
- baked goods;
- vegetable oil;
- fruits and berries.
- milk — from 112% in 2020 to 127.3% in 2025;
- meat — from 63.6% to 85.7%;
- sugar — from 15% to 82.1%;
- eggs — from 56.4% to 79.8%;
- vegetable oil — from 34% to 51.7%;
- fruits and berries — from 15% to 51.4%.
