- On February 9, 2026, during a meeting of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh on Finance, Budget, Entrepreneurship, and Competition Development, Deputy Aisarakhan Abdibaeva drew attention to the recent statements made by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture Bakyt Torobaev, who spoke about the shortage of natural milk in the market of Kyrgyzstan.

She expressed bewilderment as to why the Ministry of Economy is not taking steps to address this issue.

“You control the price of milk, but do not pay attention to its quality. Why is that?” Abdibaeva asked.

In response, Deputy Minister of Economy Benazir Nurlanova noted that there is a special methodology for determining the purchase price of milk.

However, Abdibaeva criticized her for the excessive length of her responses and lack of specificity.

“Try to be more concise and get to the point. Your answers are too vague,” the deputy stated.

In defense of Nurlanova, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Zhanibek Kerimaliev pointed out that short answers also do not always satisfy the deputies.

“If there really were no natural milk in the country, we would not be able to provide for ourselves 100%,” Kerimaliev noted.

To this, Abdibaeva asked why milk is imported from abroad if there is enough of it in the country.

Kerimaliev replied that everyone has the right to choose which milk they want to drink.

“It’s like on an airplane: some fly in economy class, while others fly in business class — the same goes for choosing milk,” he said.

During the discussion, the issue of the implementation of the Jogorku Kenesh Resolution No. 1950-VII dated March 14, 2024, “On Regulating Purchase Prices for Milk” (to be submitted for approval) was also considered.
