In Kyrgyzstan, the development of five new coal deposits began in 2025

In Kyrgyzstan, the geography of coal mining is expanding. According to the Minister of Energy Talaybek Ibraev, it was announced at a meeting of the relevant committee of the Jogorku Kenesh that in 2025, five new coal deposits were transferred to the management of the state enterprise "Kyrgyzkomur": Torugart, Markai, Beshburkhan, Kozho-Kelen, and Suluktu-11.

Currently, "Kyrgyzkomur" holds 22 licenses, of which 15 grant the right to full coal extraction, while 7 allow for geological exploration activities. Last year, the company exceeded its planned production targets: overburden works amounted to 120.6%, and the actual volume of coal extraction reached 116% of the planned volume.

The total volume of coal extracted from these sites reached 1 million 373 thousand 900 tons. This distribution of resources ensured the country's energy security. In particular, 617 thousand tons of coal were supplied to the thermal power station in the capital, while over 429 thousand tons were allocated for the needs of government institutions and social facilities. A remainder of 327.4 thousand tons was reserved in specialized warehouses.
