The Ministry of Agriculture of Kyrgyzstan has announced the start of work on a state program aimed at creating a network of modern warehouses with cold storage facilities. This proposal was presented at the "AgroDialogue-2026" forum and is considered an important step towards reducing crop losses and increasing the country's export potential.
One of the main objectives of the project is to address the problem faced by local farmers, namely the lack of conditions for the proper storage of products after harvest. New logistics hubs that meet international standards will help preserve the marketable appearance of vegetables and fruits for an extended period, which, in turn, will expand opportunities for their processing and sale in foreign markets.
The ministry noted that the implementation of the program will be based on the principles of public-private partnership. The state will provide full support for the projects, from design and construction to certification of facilities and consulting on inventory management. It is expected that such infrastructure will not only enhance the country's food security but also create new jobs in the regions.
According to specialists from the Ministry of Agriculture, the introduction of modern storage technologies will significantly increase the income of agricultural producers by eliminating seasonal losses. Moreover, the availability of stable product stocks within the country will help smooth out price fluctuations and reduce the cost of vegetables and fruits for local consumers.
