In 2026, 54,587 'smart' meters (automated commercial metering systems) will be installed in the Batken region, as reported by the press service of the Batken Electric Networks Enterprise (a branch of OJSC 'NESC').
This project is being implemented with the assistance of the World Bank and aims to modernize the energy infrastructure, transition to digital management, and optimize electricity consumption.

According to the Batken Electric Networks, there are 130,668 subscribers registered, of which 121,149 are residential consumers and 9,519 are non-residential.
In 2024-2025, specialists will install 62,085 smart metering devices in the region. The automated commercial metering systems will be fully equipped in Batken, the Batken district, and Kyzyl-Kiya.
