Experts from the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry explained the situation
In recent days, there has been an increase in the prices of chicken eggs in Kyrgyzstan, which now cost from 160 to 170 soms per dozen in stores and markets.
Many citizens have noticed the sharp price increase and are actively discussing on social media why eggs have become so expensive.
The Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry noted that the rising prices are influenced by growing demand from Kazakhstan and Russia, where wholesale and retail prices for eggs are also increasing.
However, the agency emphasized that there are positive aspects as well: "Last year, prices were extremely low, and many local producers were on the brink of bankruptcy. Now, such a price increase may help farmers restore their positions," they added.
According to the ministry, Kyrgyzstan is capable of meeting 80% of its needs for chicken eggs.
