Representatives of the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry confirmed the fact of rising prices. According to Uran Chekirbaev, head of the food security department, the wholesale price of eggs has increased by 2 soms over the past week.
“The wholesale price has risen from 10 to 12 soms per piece. This is related to the increase in prices in Kazakhstan and Russia, as we have a common market, and any changes from our neighbors directly affect our economy. In particular, restrictions on wholesale sales have been introduced in Russia,” he clarified in an interview with 24.kg.
Topics for reflection
Kyrgyzstan has become fully self-sufficient in sugar and eggs
Nevertheless, the Ministry of Water Resources and Agriculture noted the positive aspects of this price increase for local producers. Last year, prices were too low, putting small farms on the brink of bankruptcy. According to Uran Chekirbaev, the increase in prices will help farmers restore their positions.
He also added that currently Kyrgyzstan is 80% self-sufficient in chicken eggs. It is worth noting that in the fall of 2025, the ministry announced plans to achieve complete self-sufficiency and even start exporting products.
