The U.S. Department of Agriculture, in its report published on March 10, has left the forecast for Russian wheat harvest at 89.5 million tons for the 2025/26 season. This figure may increase by 10% compared to the previous season.

According to the department, of the total harvest, winter wheat is expected to account for 63 million tons, while spring wheat will make up 26.5 million tons. It is important to note that according to the methodology of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the export of products is accounted for within the marketing year, rather than the calendar year. This period represents the time when the harvested crop is sold.

The marketing year, which lasts 12 months, is calculated separately for each country engaged in agricultural product exports. For Russian wheat, this period runs from July of the current year to June of the following year. Thus, the 2025/26 season for Russian wheat supplies will start on July 1, 2025, and end on June 30, 2026.

In 2025, Russia ranked second among wheat-exporting countries to Kyrgyzstan, providing one-third of the total import volume.
