The National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic has begun reviewing documents for the establishment of a new commercial institution — "Post Bank." This project will be implemented using the infrastructure of JSC "Kyrgyz Post," which will serve as an agent for providing banking services throughout the country.
The new bank is expected to offer basic banking services through the branches of the national postal operator. The decision to issue a license will be made after a detailed review of the documents for compliance with capital requirements, the reputation of shareholders, and risk management systems.
It should be noted that the idea of creating "Post Bank" has been discussed at the state level since 2018. Over these years, "Kyrgyz Post" has undergone a transformation: in 2022, the state enterprise became a joint-stock company with full state ownership, and centralized accounting was established along with a unified branch network.
The emergence of a new participant in the financial market coincides with the active expansion of the sector in the republic — in 2025 alone, the National Bank issued permits for the opening of six new commercial banks. Experts suggest that utilizing the extensive network of post offices will significantly improve access to banking services, especially in remote regions of Kyrgyzstan.
