NBKR records trends towards lowering interest rates on certain types of loans

In the fall of 2025, changes were made to the legislation, including a new law regarding consumer lending. This was reported by Elizama Japarova, head of the banking supervision department of the NBKR, at a press conference.

She emphasized that the main part of the loan portfolio consists of consumer loans.

“We closely monitor interest rates; however, it should be noted that they also depend on the resources attracted by financial and credit institutions, including funding from international organizations and donors in foreign currency. All these factors influence the formation of interest rates,” Japarova noted.

She added that as part of the new law adopted by the Jogorku Kenesh, a number of measures are currently being implemented to amend regulatory acts, including initiatives on antimonopoly regulation and pricing.

“At the moment, the supervisory activities of the National Bank are focused on monitoring the pricing policies of all financial and credit institutions, and we are actively working in this direction. We are observing some trends towards lowering interest rates on certain types of loans,” she concluded.
