The speaker was the Deputy Minister of Economy and Commerce, Sultan Akhmatov, who noted that the protocol includes 33 amendments. These changes are aimed at addressing shortcomings identified during the application of the law, as well as clarifying definitions used in the Treaty on the Union. In addition, the amendments empower the Eurasian Economic Commission with the authority to approve the methodology for assessing obstacles in the EAEU internal market and to recognize barriers as eliminated.
The main goal of the proposed amendments is to enhance the efficiency of the EAEU, eliminate barriers in the internal market, and improve mechanisms for monitoring compliance with the Union's norms. They are based on the experience gained over five years of applying the EAEU Treaty and are aimed at simplifying procedures, increasing transparency, and protecting the interests of the member states.
The committee approved the draft law in the first reading.
