- During the plenary session of the Jogorku Kenesh, which took place on February 4, 2026, Deputy Mahabat Mavlyanova raised a question about the current state of the electricity deficit in Kyrgyzstan.

Deputy Minister of Energy Altynbek Rysbekov reported that by the end of 2025, the electricity deficit amounted to 3.8 billion kWh.

He added that to cover this deficit, electricity is being imported from neighboring countries.

In response to the deputy's question about ways to eliminate the electricity deficit in 2026, the deputy minister pointed to the conclusion of contracts for imports and the implementation of programs for the use of renewable energy sources.

When Mavlyanova inquired about the cost of 1 kWh of imported electricity, Rysbekov was unable to answer this question, citing state secrecy, but suggested discussing this information in person.

At that time, the draft law "On Amendments to the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic on Renewable Energy Sources" was being discussed for its second reading.
