- From 2020 to 2025, Kyrgyzstan recorded more than a tenfold increase in electricity imports, despite the fact that domestic production showed only moderate changes. This data is presented in the electricity balance.

As of 2025, electricity production in the country amounted to 15.3869 billion kWh, which is 4.4% higher than the figures for 2024 (14.7363 billion kWh). At the same time, the volume of imports reached 3.8 billion kWh.

For illustration, in 2020, with a production volume of 15.4042 million kWh, electricity imports were only 352.6 million kWh. In 2021, this figure rose to 1.6829 billion kWh, and in 2022 it increased to 2.8064 billion kWh.

The trend of growing dependence on imports continued in subsequent years:

It is worth noting that after a decline in production in 2022 and 2023 (to 13.8825 billion and 13.8393 billion kWh, respectively), electricity production began to recover again in 2025 and nearly reached the level of 2020.
