The Ministry of Natural Resources of Kyrgyzstan Summarized the Results of 2025

The Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic held a meeting to summarize the results of 2025.

During this session, key achievements of 2025 were reviewed, and major tasks for 2026 were outlined.

Achievements in the Mining Sector

Over the past five years, significant reforms have been implemented in the field of subsoil use, strengthening state control. In 2024-2025, 8 major projects were launched, and in 2025, 105 licenses were issued to state enterprises. As a result of violations of licensing legislation, 320 licenses were revoked. Currently, 2014 licenses are active.

The sector has contributed over 217.9 billion soms to the budget over the past five years, which corresponds to a growth of 3.5 times. In 2025, these contributions reached a record high of 65.4 billion soms. Throughout the year, 40 auctions were held, generating 105.6 million soms for the budget. The total gold production over five years amounted to 141 tons.

Status of "Kumtor"

Since 2021, the "Kumtor" deposit has been under state control. Over five years, the budget received 100.6 billion soms in the form of taxes and other mandatory payments. The company's net profit in 2025 amounted to 706 million USD, and gold production reached 70 tons with an increase in reserves.

Environmental Initiatives

An interdepartmental commission was established to improve air quality, and restrictions on the use of low-quality coal were introduced in Bishkek and the Chui region.

With financial support from the World Bank, a project worth 50 million USD is being implemented, as well as the "Improving Air Quality in the Kyrgyz Republic" project, funded by KOICA with 10 million USD.

In 2025, the Concepts of Environmental Security and Carbon Neutrality were approved, and international cooperation was expanded. Investments in the mining sector exceeded 1 billion USD.

Control and Protection of Biodiversity

In 2025, 5,749 violations were recorded, and damage caused to nature was compensated in the amount of 143.2 million soms. A state enterprise "Ekooperator" was created, which collected 74 million soms in the form of recycling fees.

As part of the "Zhasyl Muras" program, 8.2 million trees were planted, and the ecological corridor "Ak Ilbirs" was established. The population of snow leopards in the country exceeded 500 individuals.

Issyk-Kul and Protected Natural Areas

In Issyk-Kul, 99 raids were conducted, resulting in the elimination of illegal fishing nets and the introduction of restrictions on the use of plastic products.

Protected natural areas attracted 271 thousand tourists, generating 37.7 million soms for the budget.

Strengthening the Material and Technical Base

To improve the material and technical base of the ministry, the construction of new administrative buildings has begun, 38 service vehicles have been purchased, as well as modern laboratory equipment, drones, camera traps, and field equipment.

Priorities for 2026

Following the session, tasks were defined to expand geological exploration, improve environmental control, deepen digitalization processes, and implement climate policy. The ministry will continue its activities for the rational use of natural resources, ensuring environmental safety, and sustainable development in 2026.
