- Seven to eight months have passed since the border opened, and during this time, the trade turnover between the countries amounted to between $30 and $36 million. The Director of the Center for Development and Promotion of Exports "Kyrgyz Export," Urmat Takirov, reported this in a radio broadcast.

According to Takirov, the active resumption of trade between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan began after mutual visits by the heads of state.

During intergovernmental meetings, a series of tasks were formulated for the Kyrgyz side, including the development of a "roadmap" for trade and the identification of priority sectors for further development.

In addition, the Tajik side proposed the establishment of joint ventures on their territory involving Kyrgyz companies. The main goal of this cooperation is the processing of local cotton and the production of finished products, which, according to Tajik partners, will be beneficial for both countries.

Urmat Takirov also noted that this year Kyrgyz businessmen plan to participate in the international exhibition Sukh 2026 in Khujand, as well as in the textile and garment exhibition in Dushanbe. Parallel negotiations are underway to establish trade houses in these cities, which will enable direct connections with buyers and showcase products on-site.
