As of February 19, 2026, the active phase of dismantling hydro unit No. 2 as part of the "Modernization of the Uch-Kurgan HPP" project is nearing completion. The implementation of the project is overseen by the Minister of Energy, Talaybek Ibraev.
The main contractor for the project, China National Electric Engineering Company (CNEEC), completed the preparatory work for dismantling by February 1. A team of 65 specialists was formed, and the necessary construction equipment was mobilized to accomplish the task.
After hydro unit No. 2 was accepted on February 10, specialists immediately began dismantling work.
On February 16, the dismantling and lifting of the generator rotor were completed, and the disassembly of the rotor and stator is currently ongoing.
According to the approved schedule, the following stages are expected:
- The dismantling of the generator is planned to be completed by February 22;
- The transition to the dismantling of the turbine is scheduled for late February to early March;
- The complete completion of all dismantling work on hydro unit No. 2 is expected in early March.
At the moment, there are no delays in the schedule.
In parallel with the dismantling work, new equipment is actively being prepared. The stator of the new generator for hydro unit No. 2 has already been fully assembled at the installation site and has successfully passed electrical tests, while the generator rotor is 50% assembled.
