Currently, preparatory and engineering work has already begun on both hydro units. The reconstruction of unit No. 2 will start on February 1, 2026, and unit No. 1 on March 1, 2026. As part of the work on hydro unit No. 2, welding of the stator rods and assembly of the rotor spokes with defect control are being carried out. At the same time, design and technical preparation for hydro unit No. 1 is underway.

The parallel reconstruction of the hydro units will ensure a phased increase in the installed capacity of the station. According to the Ministry of Energy, by the end of 2025, the capacity of the Uch-Kurgan HPP increased by 18 MW, and by 2026, the total increase will amount to 36 MW.

The goal of modernizing the Uch-Kurgan HPP is to enhance the reliability and efficiency of hydroelectric equipment, as well as to ensure stable and long-term operation of the station.

All work will be carried out according to the approved schedule, in compliance with all technical requirements and safety standards, emphasizes the ministry.
