Uch-Kurgan Hydroelectric Power Station: In 2026, the station's capacity will increase by 18 MW due to reconstruction

- The project for the modernization of the Uch-Kurgan Hydroelectric Power Station is ongoing. The press service of JSC "Electric Stations" reports on the current progress of the work.

According to the company's information, the general contractor for the work under Package-2 is the Chinese company CNEEC (China National Electric Engineering Co. Ltd.).

"The parallel reconstruction of two hydro units — No. 1 and No. 2 — is scheduled for 2026. This decision will accelerate the modernization process and increase the project's efficiency. Preparatory work and engineering activities have already begun for both units," the press release states.

Work on hydro unit No. 2 will start on February 1, 2026, while the reconstruction of hydro unit No. 1 is scheduled for March 1, 2026.

"Currently, welding work on the stator rods for hydro unit No. 2 is being carried out, and the assembly of the rotor spokes is underway with defect control. The design and technical preparation for hydro unit No. 1 is also in progress," the press service added.

As a result of the reconstruction by the end of 2025, the capacity of the Uch-Kurgan HPP will increase by 18 MW, and by 2026, the total increase in installed capacity will reach 36 MW.
