- During the plenary session of the Jogorku Kenesh on February 19, 2026, Erkinbek Isenaliev expressed concern about the possibility of introducing a ban on the use of imported fish feed, which, according to him, is causing anxiety among fish farm owners.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture Zhanibek Kerimaliev noted that previously, a 0% VAT was not charged on the import of fish feed; however, starting from February 12, 2026, this tax is being reintroduced to support domestic producers.

At the same time, he added that there is currently no ban on the import of feed.

In this regard, the deputy called for a quality check of local fish feed.

On the same day, the meeting discussed the draft law "On the Ratification of the Protocol Amending the Marrakech Agreement Establishing the World Trade Organization (Agreement on Fisheries Subsidies)," which was adopted at the Twelfth Session of the WTO Ministerial Conference on June 17, 2022, in Geneva, and is currently at the second reading stage.
