Electricity Consumption in Kazakhstan Increased by 3.8% in 2025

According to the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, electricity consumption increased by 3.8% in 2025.

“The total volume of consumed electricity reached 124.6 billion kWh, which is 3.83% more than in 2024, when this figure was 120 billion kWh,” the ministry's budget execution report states.

In addition, electricity production in the country grew by 4.4%, reaching 123.1 billion kWh (117.9 billion kWh in 2024).

As of January 1, 2026, the total installed capacity of Kazakhstan's power plants is 20.1 GW.

The ministry also presented statistics on the commissioning of new capacities:

in 2022 – 442 megawatts;

in 2023 – 560 megawatts;

in 2024 – 771 megawatts;

in 2025 – 670 megawatts.
