In Bishkek, truck drivers were penalized for exceeding air pollution standards.

During the raid, inspectors stopped about ten diesel trucks. Among them, three were found to have pollution levels exceeding the established norm by 50%.

A special device, a smoke meter, was used to monitor the quality of exhaust gases. The device is installed in the exhaust pipe, after which the driver must increase the engine RPM to 3000 several times. If the result exceeds 50%, a report of the violation is drawn up.

The first violation was recorded for a Mercedes truck driver, whose emission levels were found to be above the permissible limit, resulting in a fine of 7,500 soms for the individual. A similar violation was also identified for a Sprinter minibus driver.

Additionally, a heavy-duty truck with a trailer was stopped, which showed the highest pollution coefficient — over 70%.
