In Bishkek, raids are being conducted to check vehicles for compliance with environmental standards.

Medetbek Anarbek uulu, head of the regional department of the Environmental and Technical Supervision Service for the capital and the Alamedin district, reported that these checks are carried out in cooperation with the staff of the UPSM. The main goal of these activities is to improve air quality and reduce pollution levels. During the raids, specialists measure the density of exhaust gas particles, paying special attention to vehicles with diesel engines.

For the checks, a device called a "smoke meter" is used, which is installed in the exhaust pipe to measure gas density. If the pollution level exceeds 50%, a protocol is issued to the driver.

Anarbek uulu emphasized that according to research findings, vehicle emissions are one of the key causes of smog in Bishkek, ranking second after emissions from coal burning.

In case of exceeding the established environmental standards, fines are imposed: for individuals — 7,500 soms, and for legal entities — 20,000 soms. In 2025, fines totaling more than 1 million soms were imposed as a result of similar checks.
