At a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, Deputy Ulan Primov raised the issue of the need to strengthen protective measures for Lake Issyk-Kul, which is facing serious problems with its ecosystem.

Primov warned that without immediate action, Kyrgyzstan could face an ecological disaster in the future.

He also provided statistical data indicating that while 80 rivers used to flow into the lake, their number has now decreased to about 35.

In this regard, the deputy proposed the establishment of a separate agency that would specialize in the protection and preservation of the unique Lake Issyk-Kul.
