PM2.5 consists of solid particles smaller than 2.5 microns. Their diameter is 30 times smaller than that of a human hair. These particles include a mixture of dust, soot, ash, as well as sulfates and nitrates present in the air. They contribute to the deterioration of air quality in large cities.
As of March 14, Bishkek ranks 3rd in the world city air quality ranking (5:00 PM).
