The presidential lyceum "Akyilman" is launching an educational program based on the STEAM system, which includes IT technologies, humanities, and specialized education. The Deputy Director for Scientific Work, Almazbek uulu Ömürbek, shared this information at a press conference held at the "Kabar" agency.
The STEAM system aims to develop critical and creative thinking among students. Education at the lyceum is conducted in two languages: exact sciences are taught in English, while humanities subjects are taught in Kyrgyz. New students will also receive assistance in mastering the English language to fully transition to instruction in that language. A unique feature of the lyceum is the availability of programs in kayaking, which is offered only at this school,” he noted.
Currently, the lyceum has 264 students, distributed across classes, with 24 students in each class. The educational process is supplemented by 26 clubs aimed at the comprehensive development of students.
The assessment system at the lyceum includes both formative and summative assessments. A CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) system has also been implemented, allowing for a more objective evaluation of student performance considering their academic load,” added Almazbek uulu Ömürbek.
