"Bishkek Maniac" found dead in pre-trial detention center

Kumarbek Abdyrov, the suspect in the murder of 17-year-old Aysulu M. and several other women, was found dead in the pre-trial detention center No. 1. The State Penitentiary Service confirmed the information about his suicide. Abdyrov was detained in October of last year after the disappearance of the minor Aysulu, who was traveling from the village of Barskoon to the village of Jenish but never returned home. The investigation established that video footage shows her getting into a Honda Stream car, driven by Abdyrov. According to the investigation, he took her to an apple orchard, where he committed violent acts and killed her, then dumped her body in the Boom Gorge.

After his arrest, Abdyrov confessed to committing a number of other crimes. In 2006, he attacked a girl with an iron rod while she was walking with her mother and took her phone. At that time, his relatives pleaded for reconciliation, as he was the only son. As a result, the court imposed a fine of 5,000 soms on him. In 2011, the body of a girl who had gone missing a month earlier was found in the village of Orok. She was eight months pregnant and had been raped and killed.

19-year-old Kamila Duyshbayeva disappeared in Bishkek on March 10, 2014. Six days later, her body was discovered in the village of Baytik, showing signs of strangulation with her own scarf. Three days later, the body of 22-year-old M.S.N. was found on Razzakov Street, also strangled and raped. In 2015, Abdyrov attempted to kill another girl by throwing her into a canal and hitting her arm with a stone. The victim managed to survive and reach the hospital. The following year, he was sentenced to 12 years in prison, but later the sentence was reduced to seven years.
